Abstract

The meaning of accessibility is reflected in the first chapter of the UN (United Nation) on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the elimination of inequalities and the improvement of living conditions. The need for equality and ensuring full participation in all kinds of events, as well as in sports, are many, while the accessibility rules, due to planning and anticipating problems, is a major theme. The purpose of this study was to record the accessibility of the infrastructure for sports clubs of people with movement impairments in Greece. Eight questions of infrastructure dimension of Hall’s (2003) modern model for organizational capacity of sports clubs for disabled were used in this study and recorded the perceptions of 34 sport bodies of these sports clubs. Only one person of sport bodies responded at a time. Descriptive statistics, decoding and homogeneity of responses were used in statistical analysis. Cronbach Alpha (a) was used to verify the reliability of infrastructure dimension factors. According to the perceptions of sport bodies, the largest number of sports clubs for individuals with disabilities in Greece, have sufficient infrastructure for wheelchair accessibility that serves both personal needs and equal participation in sports, such athletes without disabilities.
